Things To Do in Doylestown PA
A borough situated in Bucks County, PA, Doylestown serves as the county seat. Positioned approximately 27 miles southeast of Allentown, 25 miles north of Center City Philadelphia, and 20 miles northwest of Trenton, it falls within the Delaware Valley and is considered part of the broader Philadelphia metropolitan area.
In 1745, William Doyle secured a license to construct a tavern, which, upon completion, became known as William Doyle’s Tavern. Located at the northwest corner of Dyers Road and Coryell’s Ferry Road, the tavern’s presence along present-day U.S. Route 202 played a pivotal role in fostering early growth for Norristown. Subsequently, in 1802, a post office was established in the area that now constitutes Doylestown.
The area features several places unique to Pennsylvania and nothing like the rest of the United States. Fonthill Castle, formerly the home of Henry Mercer, is one example of this. It boasts over 44 rooms with dazzling arrays of artistry and original handcrafted tiles. The Mercer Museum is similar, managed, and paid for by the Bucks County Historical Society, paying tribute to Henry Chapman Mercer, a noted artist, archaeologist, antiquarian, and writer.
Big renovation projects can be difficult to justify due to the expense, and small remodeling work can also be hard to explain due to their size. Whatever the size of your project, BW Services can give you a free estimate. Our company can tackle any general, interior, and exterior contracting project without breaking the bank.
