A borough in Bucks County, PA, Morrisville, is found just below the falls of the Delaware River. It is situated opposite Trenton, New Jersey. It is approximately 46 miles southeast of Allentown and 27 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
The earliest known settlement in the area that became Morrisville was a Dutch West India Company trading post that had operated from 1624 to 1627 on an island in the Delaware River. The area was known as Crewcorne in its early days and was considered part of Falls Township. One of the first ferries to cross the Delaware proper was established in the area. Trenton to Morrisville would see its first bridge welcoming traffic across it in 1806.
The area is well known for its distilleries, having some of the first ones before the United States became a nation. Ashlynn Distillery on the Canal is one of these such places, the local spirits being some of the best you’ll ever taste.
